Many years ago I adored the original Civilisation game on my PC. Many, many happy hours were spent battling away. Having not played for 15+ years I recently got the urge to do so again and bought Civilisation VI, again for PC. The main game has moved on in terms of complexity and challenge (and computing power: my fan starts running at max within minutes!). It is with this intro that I recently purchased the iOS version. The animations are slick, the stages logical and the variability between different games very good. I've played three or four games and have found them increasingly challenging as I move up the difficulty levels. Evil 6 re-release on the PS4, Sid Meiers Civilization Revolution 2 Plus on the Vita, and the side-scrolling shooter No Time To Explain on the PS4. However, there are certain features from the main game that I am dearly missing: killing off a unit making your only offers to other civilisations, finding out who you are at war with, forming alliances and recommendations for the best place to build a city or which unit to build. Will I carry in playing? Certainly! Am I hoping for more tweaks and extra layers of complexity? Absolutely.Īs an introduction and advert for the main game I think that this iOS version is superb. However, as a standalone item I think it may get boring within 20 games. Both of these outcomes make the price too high. The sequel to one of the most successful strategy games on mobile is here! Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 challenges players to build a glorious empire that will stand the test of time. This is the first game in the Civilization catalog to be developed and available exclusively for mobile devices. Civilization Revolution 2 offers mobile strategy fans a brand new 3D presentation and more tactical depth than ever before! Find out if you have what it takes to rule the world!Īnd then there’s the feature checklist: a few new units (Aircraft Carriers, Jet Fighters, SpecOps Infantry), some new tech (Lasers, Medicine, Information Tech), new buildings and wonders (Nuclear Power Plant, The Red Cross, Silicon Valley), 3D graphics (the original mobile versions were 2D) and some history-minded scenario challenges. The good news is that it’s $15, not a buck or free plus in-game purchases. Once you’ve bought it, it’s simply free-to-play. The bad news is that the game ships without multiplayer - just as Civilization Revolution did, true, but the latter wound up getting it down the road for $2.99.
